Why We Should Commute on City Bikes

By Mike Sherman

There are so many advantages of commuting to work on a city bike as opposed to commuting by car, train, or bus. It will save you money, improve your health, and help the environment. It could even wind up saving you time depending on the distance that you are traveling. It will definitely be more enjoyable. The city bike is designed to handle everything that urban roads may throw your way.

Commuting on your bike is going to help you save money. The only down side to this is that your wallet me weight you down when you're on your bike. The costs of gas and maintaining a car these days are ridiculous. With how the economy is right now that makes it even tougher to swallow. The average person has to spend over $5,000 every year to maintain a motor vehicle whereas it only costs $120 on average to take care of a bike. That is without even factoring the mileage and wear on your car that you save so that it will last you longer.

Your health will also benefit from riding your bike to work. You can kill two birds with one stone because your cardio work for the day is done. Your stress levels and your chances of getting heart disease are both reduced by riding a bike. It will aid you in burning calories and building muscle.

Riding your city bike is also better for the environment and everyone else around you. There is no noise pollution or air pollution that comes from a bike. If more people rode their bikes to work, there would be a lot less construction on roads, which winds up setting people back anyway. There would also be less carbon dioxide from vehicles, which contributes to global warming.

Riding your bike to work can potentially save time on your commute. You can avoid being stuck in traffic and having to search for where to park. Riding your bike is a great way to commute if you happen to be in a city. Then when all your colleagues are rambling on about how long they were stuck in traffic you can tell them the way to go.
