Why Should Debtors Gain Acclaim in Collecting Child Support Debt?

By Rob Sutter

If you perform a job in an adequate way, don't expect much more than a pat upon the head. If you perform a job to a great extent, you may find that rewards will come sooner than you believed. What I found myself reading on MTV News left me quite surprised, to put it lightly. It appeared as though this particular article was praising a person for paying child support. As someone who's written for a company specializing in collecting child support debt and the like, I'm utterly stunned.

As written about by MTV News, platinum record producer by the name of Scott Storch was about to face arrest because he failed to pay child support. However, it seems like a lawyer brought his hat into the ring and said that the debt could be cleared in a few days, thereby eliminating the need for such an arrest. Before that time, Storch owed a good $28,300 to the mother of his child and he no-showed a court date as well. While he seems to have cleared his name well, the fact that such a story was published was pretty astonishing to me.

Why would anyone commend a person simply because they're about to do what they were supposed to do all along? If I were to write an article and send it out, then I didn't do anything more than what I was tasked to do. A man had a child with someone and now that things have gone sour with that relationship, he has to perform his duties as a father. Not paying for his child doesn't do him much good in the eyes of the public.

I believe that the companies which specialize in collecting child support debt would find that this story to be intriguing. These companies like R.R.S. could see the money that should be given and they could help the mother in this case procure what should be given. Also, they could assist Storch in the situation since it seemed like he was in financial straits. These organizations aren't simply focused on the betterment on the client, after all.

While I am of the belief that Storch is eligible for help on this matter, I don't think dedicating an entire story on MTV News was worth it. The website wasted space on a story when another report could have been better utilized. In my mind, Storch's story wasn't worth the space utilized. However, as much of a critic as I can be, I'm happy to see that he isn't in such financial peril right now and the worst of his financial issues have come to pass.
