Using Portable Cold Cathode Light Systems

By Georgia Diaz

Many people are now actively looking for more energy efficient ways to run their homes and businesses. This extents to vehicles, boats and commercial properties. As they look around for ways to stay competitive whilst still saving money, many people have turned to the latest technology of portable cold cathode light systems.

Many people are surprised to learn that this type of system can easily provide over ninety thousand hours of lighting. This is far more than the traditional bulbs and lamps. The reason for this extremely long life is that the cathode lights do not use filaments. Filaments are the thin strand inside conventional bulbs that has a tendencies to burn out and deteriorate over time. By utilizing filament free technology the life of the bulb has been increased dramatically.

The filament was standard in bulbs for decades. This thin wire was the part that provided the light. In the early days simply having light was a miracle. However, technology has moved so fast that these old fashioned bulbs have become the dinosaur of lighting systems. They are very fragile and the filament has a tendency to burn out quickly. This puts a very definite restriction on their uses and life span.

One of the first groups of people to see the potential of the cathode lights were emergency and first responder teams. They are typically working in very difficult conditions. Storms often put the power out and they cannot rely on having access to electricity in remote areas. Being able to take along their own source of light that could be connected to a battery was the logical answer to their dilemma. The lights can be hooked up quickly and easily enabling even those with no technical background to use them.

Those who work or play on the water are also finding that the cathode lighting units are a huge benefit to them. The ocean is a dangerous and unpredictable place. Having a safe and efficient way to provide lights is a huge factor in the running of a commercial vessel. The crew are often working around the clock and being able to see well not only speeds up productivity but also reduces the instance of accidents.

Marine craft have also been at the fore front of utilizing the new technology. Many working and leisure vessels have been fitted with the lights to enable their crews to work more efficiently. School buses and other commercial vehicles have also become more comfortable and user friendly as a result of the lights. Owners are more willing to install them as they will provide many years of use and can be run from a variety of sources.

Many people with some basic background knowledge have been able to install their own lights. Others who are not familiar with electrical systems should hire an experienced and certified contractor to do the work. Each new unit comes with a clear set of installation instructions. If the purchaser has any questions they can contact the customer service department and speak with a friendly and knowledgeable member of the staff.

A knowledgeable and friendly customer service department will be able to help clients find the perfect product for their unique situation. They will be able to answer any questions about the use of portable cold cathode light units that the client may have.
