Hair Styles For Shorter Hair

By Adah Determan

There are currently 6 short hair styles that are considered the hottest trends for 2014. The first of these hairstyles for short hair is the pixie.

For most, the worry that short hair is unfeminine is present, but this is not the case! Short hair can even be more feminine and more flattering for some people; it's all a matter of trying different things and opening yourself up to a world of options.

The modern pixie tends to be choppy with longer bangs adding texture to it. This is an update on the traditional pixie that was short all over.

The second of our short hair styles is the modernized shag. The shag is dated rocker girl hairstyle with lots of layers. It is a sort of mullet hairstyle gone bad.

Usually going to the chin or maybe an inch past, these looks are perfect for people who've never tried short hair and want to start slowly. However, short cuts can be lengthy, or incredibly short. It's all about preference.

Of our hairstyles for short hair, the pixie will work best for women with thick, naturally wavy hair. On the other hand, the modernized shag can flatter any face shape.

The pompadour features shaved sides with a puffy teased pop, that can remind one of a rooster's comb. It is a popular choice for singers and celebrities because of the air of coolness that surrounds the cut. Next in our list of short hair styles is the unstructured bob. The classic bob never goes out of the style. However, the modern bob is messy and unstructured, with a bit of edge to it.

Though it may sound contradictory, lighter skin tones work better with lighter colored hair or with subtle highlights. Conversely, darker hair works best with darker skin tones. The trick is to allow hair color to blend with the natural skin tone thereby subtly camouflaging any thin or thinning areas.

Another of the hairstyles for short hair is the super-short, edgy cut. To get a super-short, edgy haircut, a woman needs to have a lot of guts. The super-short, edgy cut is very, very cool and sophisticated provided you have the chutzpah to carry it.
