Trick Your Metabolism So That Your Weight Loss Won't Hit A Plateau

By Bob Steele

In case you are like most people, then you have tried a number of diets, with varying degrees of success. You could have lost weight but you generally get to a certain point and then nothing you do can help you lose more. This plateau that many people hit, is typical with virtually all diet plans. There's a new way of preventing this plateau by working to trick your metabolism.

You've probably already experienced the plateau problem which will probably have caused you a lot of discouragement and ended more than one diet regime. The plateau is a strange phenomenon and it happens to even the best dieters when they get to the third or fourth week of their fat loss programs. Up until that point weight is coming off and then it just quits, and absolutely nothing works to keep the body slimming down. This is the body reacting to the things you happen to be putting it through. Your body goes into a protection mode to keep you from starving and it will decrease your rate of metabolism. This, then, will keep you from being able to get rid of more excess weight.

This is what causes people to believe they are not capable of losing the weight they want, and they give up trying. This is just what causes most of the people to start eating again and they typically gain back more weight than they lost in the first place. The way to avoid this is with a diet where you transfer calories. What you want to do is eat a different number of calories every single day, which theoretically helps you deceive your metabolism. If this works on your body it is not going to get into "protective" mode. This can keep your metabolism stable instead of slowing down and you're going to shed even more weight. As soon as you get to this point, you have passed the plateau and your diet will continue working the way it was designed to.

It's pretty simple to use this kind of plan for your daily routine. Perhaps the most popular method of caloric shifting is the 14 day method. In this program, you follow your diet for eleven days and then on the 12, 13 and 14th days you try to eat the things you truly wish to eat. You rotate your foods throughout the day, fooling your metabolism, and for three day eat what you want, stopping the plateau. This will also help you from being frustrated with a strict diet routine. Just continue repeating the fourteen days until you've reached your weight loss objectives.

Another popular program is the 2 day plan in which you eat normally one day and the following day cut your calories by between twenty and thirty five percent. You can keep doing this every 2 days for as long as necessary to get your weight off. This is a program that you should try, as it might be exactly what can get you past your plateau, to where you will get rid of all the weight you'd like.
