Plush Unicorn Gift And Party Ideas

By Ines Brennan

A plush unicorn would mostly be considered as a perfect gift for a little girl, however, with the right colors, there is no reason why it shouldn't be chosen for a boy either. Most toy unicorns, though, are made in pinks and purples, and perhaps with white as the main color, as white is how the once 'real' unicorns were described. If such a birthday gift has been chosen for your daughter, then it will be perfect to arrange the whole party around a theme of unicorns.

Unicorns look similar to horses, with four legs, a neck, mane and tail, but with one main difference. Their large horn. The magical animal was thought to have lived in forests, out of sight from most, and to be a wild creature that could not be tamed. Many have believed the horn of the animal to have special powers, able to heal the sick and turn poison into a harmless substance.

The tales of unicorns are endless, but their truth will never be known. To a little girl, however, it does not matter if they were ever here, her fantasy is all she needs. To make her special day as enchanting as ever, think up some ideas for incorporating unicorns into the whole theme of the occasion.

Regarding the present, however, you should not have any trouble finding stuffed animals in the shape of unicorns. They are sold big, and small, and spotted with stars and rainbows, and in all colors of the rainbow as well. They usually have lovely long manes and tails, and therefore a comb to go with it will be lots of fun. Perhaps you can even have the name of the birthday girl placed somewhere on the 'pony', just to make it especially intriguing.

The room or area of the party can be decorated as a magical forest, by cutting out paper trees and by draping the ceiling or walls with pink and purple cloths. Place stars, flowers or any other decorations on them, not forgetting some large unicorns.

For an extra special affect some lights can be used in a clever way. Rows of white lights turned to a soft glow will give a good night-time feel to the room, especially if most of the natural light can be taken out of the room by closing curtains etc. Sometimes flashing lights are lovely too.

Make sure that unicorns are dancing all over the special birthday table. Accessories such as hats, cups, plates, boxes and napkins are available from most stores, and you can find some in a suitable theme. The tablecloth can be plain-colored, or decorated similarly. Have a smart unicorn cake as well. Ice-cream cones also make good horns, so perhaps the children could create their own horns, using chocolate, frosting, small sweets and other fun things.

If your child loves horses, then consider hiring a pony. Make a horn to go on the pony's head, if he doesn't mind. A fun party game is to let the children sit in a circle, and have music at hand. Give them a horned-pony to pass from one to the other, and stop the music at intervals. Give a prize, or let the child who is holding the pony when the music stops leave the game. Once all is done, the plush unicorn present will keep the magic going.
