Simple tips were provided by experts in the area on how you can do installation by yourself. For a step by step process, you can check the instruction found on the box of your package. Rough surfaces should be cleared prior installing it on the floor. Tiles and adhesive needs to be in tune with the room temperature it will be installed within twenty four hours before its actual placing.

Portland has a wide range of floor contractors that can help you when it comes to this job. They usually would advise you to purchase commercial tiles instead of the residential grade tile. Of the two, the commercial tile is more appropriate to use since it does not easily get scratched. As long as the concrete surface and subflooring is smooth, installation would not be a problem.

In installing the tiles, the area should be cleaned. You have to mop dirt and vacuum debris that might be floating in the area. Cracks should also be fixed. A mixture of skim coat and patch can be used to get rid of it. Sand papers can be used to smoothen the rough edges. And dust particles can be vacuumed right after.

Measure the entire room, locating the middle of each wall of the room. Do this using a measuring tape, then mark the center of each wall using a chalk. Make sure that the two lines meet at the center of the room in a perfect ninety degree angle. If the chalk line crosses any crack, adjust the line slightly so it does not fall on the crack.

The room is now divided into four quarters. Begin with one quarter by putting enough adhesive along the chalk mark. You wait for it to get sticky and then set the first tile going to the outer wall. Do this until all tiles covered the adhesive applied. There would be a space on the outer wall where a tile would not fit, measure it. And using a utility knife, have it cut.

For curved tiles, draw a pattern on the paper. Cut it out, and transfer it on the tile and paste it on the adhesive on the floor. The same procedure should be done with the rest of the room. Once the adhesives dried out, clean the floor. Mop it, and then apply a coating of commercial polish.

A commercial tile has one eighth gauge in inches. It is important to have proper maintenance of this type of tile. This will probably save you the effort and time, plus it would last years. If coated with a floor polish, will protect the floor and lessen the possibility of replacing it with a new one.

There are things that you may not be able to do. Expert knowledge is needed in some tasks that may not be fitting for you. Just leave it up for experts in this field. You can find them on every block in Portland. You just have to know what you are looking for.
