The Different Unions Australia Has And How They Help The Working Class

The unions Australia have are as diverse as in any other part of the world. Historically they have played an important part in the the different cultures they are in. Initially they were only formed by the working class as a means to ensure demands for higher wages were met with success, but over time their role has widened to many more areas than just wages.

These worker funded organizations were formed to help all workers with their primary rights and basic relationships with employers. Some of the primary rights they assist with protecting are the issues involving safety and health, sexual harassment, discrimination and minimum wage enforcement. Union representatives also assist the workers when they have claims against employers.

They also may help members with long term needs as well. They can often provide discounted or free legal service for members for any legal issues. They often provide discounted life insurance and group health insurance at reduced prices. Many have also incorporated internships and training programs for younger people who are new to the workforce.

One of the greatest advantages of a trade union is their ability to engage in collective bargaining. When negotiating work contracts, a union brings together the employees as a whole for solidarity and thus a great impact at the bargaining table. Most companies respect this process more because it is much easier than dealing with each employee on a one to one basis.

This impact will impact often result in more saved jobs and greater wages with benefit packages with better compensation for any hours worked outside normal working hours. Often they will help with limiting company outsourcing to foreign countries, and help too ensure top quality workers with set training standards for their employment positions. This will help ensure the best quality products are made by employees.

There are many different trade unions for various employees for many different occupations. These may range from professional construction workers or medical employees to simple factory workers. Joining up is as effortless as talking with your union rep or stuart, filling out any necessary paperwork and paying any dues that are appropriate. As long as you keep paying the dues and stay employed in the field, you will be entitled to be a part of the union.

It is important to understand that they are good for employers as well. Employers can use fewer people for negotiating and communicating to their employees. They also reap greater rewards from the increased productivity and loyalty from their employees. They also help companies save money through a reduction in accidents and down time because of a safer workforce. They also get more responsible and better trained people through union training programs.

The different unions Australia have are varied like the many people that have joined them. They help to provide many safeguards for members and to enrich work force diversity. Now when you see a loaf of bread or look at your automobile or most other common place items, hopefully you will see that there are many organizations behind the different people making these items that work to enrich everyone's life.
