Battery Recycling And Disposal For A Greener World

By Juana Gamble

Battery, an essential giver of energy. Though electricity acts as an unlimited source of power, batteries are handy and can be carried anywhere. They act as reliable back up sources in times of power outages. It plays a vital role in a hectic world where speed and time are important.

Despite the benefits they give, batteries have a negative effect too. While functioning, they are harmless. At the time of their demise, they are suicide bombers, releasing the dangerous chemicals within themselves if discarded ineptly. Countries all over the Earth has refined their disposal of the volatile elements found inside a storage cell. A widely known practice all around the globe is recycling, like the battery recycling Dallas TX.

Since the creation of these miniature energy providers, several ways of disposal have also been created. Landfills were the preferred method long ago. But after years of observation, it has been deemed inefficient due to the increase of risk in soil pollution as a by product. After decades of research, there is indeed treasures in trash. Recycling was found more effective in more ways than one. Recycling batteries decreases the quantity of solid wastes. It is safe for both humans and the environment.

Incorrect disposal can devastate the planet we reside in. Batteries carry poisonous chemicals which pose a threat to our health and the well being of our world. Erroneous methods can lead to the defilement of natural resources.

Recycling hinders the spread of chemicals into the environment in a safe manner. Also, salvageable parts are used to create a new battery. In this method, we can save time and especially a lot of resources.

It also reduces the need for landfills. It saves natural resources. It saves energy and reduces pollution. It generates income for small businesses like battery scrap shops. It lessens regulations because it would no longer fall under categories of hazardous wastes. It reduces the need for imports.

Simple ways of making the world a cleaner place for everybody is achievable. The simple act of buying batteries containing less lead, cadmium and mercury greatly reduces pollution. Using rechargeable batteries instead of primary ones are a surefire way to help the environment. Using alternative energy sources like wind, solar and water would also be of great help. Importantly, our cooperation is needed the most. Complying with ordinances and laws to protect nature is the biggest help all of us can provide.

Disposing the chemicals in batteries are no walk in the park. It should be treated with importance. It is a problem that needs more time to be planned about. We may have steps to counter its consequence, but more is needed. It is not yet over.

We live in a fragile world. A fragile world with fragile air and fragile waters. We must not set their safety aside. We must not make our future generations pay the price. Technology itself is simply a luxury. The world we live in, the place we call home, is our true necessity and we must do all we can to ensure its health and prosperity. Mother Earth is a loving mother. If we take care of her then she will take care of us.
