Steps That A Residential Landscape Designer Follow In The Landscaping Process

A residential landscaping design involves arrangement of the outdoor space to your satisfaction. A home landscape which is well designed is attractive to look at and functional. There are steps that a landscape designer follows to create a design that suits your needs and one that allows for change in the future.

The initial step will be developing a plan for your plot. The plan will entail the physical features and boundaries that will impact your design. There are several components that should come with a good plan. They include angles and lines of your property. An important aspect is locating the existing plot features. There are different features in your property that should be recorder. Some of the features include septic tanks, utility lines, drainpipes, shrubs, trees, doors and windows.

The next step is to conduct a site analysis. Plenty of time should be taken to be able to properly study the site and analyze its environmental features. One should observe the direction of the sun at different times of the year because the way it affects your house and the entire property at different seasons will influence the entire landscape design.

The direction that is taken by the winter winds is another observation that should be recorded. This is a crucial detail that will be useful in deciding the location where a windbreaker should be installed. This will come in hardy especially if you live near the mountains. Ensure that the pleasant breeze that is enjoyed during summer is not blocked especially in your outdoor space. It is important to consider the sounds and scene. This means that when walking on your outdoor environment, you should see different sites and also identify where different sounds are being produced.

During site analysis you should also check the soil. The various types of soil can greatly influence your landscape design. Some soil types like clay requires to be amended physically and chemically before any tree or shrub is planted on it. One should do a test on the soil to know the type and also the depth of the topsoil.

The third step involves assessing your family needs. This will help you design your property in a way that will bring satisfaction to you and your family. This mean the parking lot for the family and guests should be properly designed. The walks and driveway should have good lighting among other things.

Step four is to locate different areas for various activities. During this step, you should consider the family needs and decide where to locate the areas for different uses. If possible you should provide sufficient space for every activity. This step divides the site into a number of different areas to serve a specific purpose but still be contained into the overall design. The different areas which can be defined in a land scenery are family, public and service or utility. Each should be developed in accordance to your family needs.

The last step is developing the identified areas. Ensure that your landscape design creates an ample space with a good view of the terrace. When creating attractive patios, you can use various materials such as concrete, bricks or treated wood. You can also enhance your outdoor environment look by using container plants. A competent landscape designer should provide good results in your property.
