Website Marketing Made Easy With These Simple Tips

By Robert Strong

Website marketing has many names: online, web, digital, or e-marketing. Whatever you choose to call it, it is imperative that you understand and respect the positive (or negative) effects that it can have on the overall success of your company. These tips and tricks offer insight into the many ways that you can use the internet to shape your marketing strategy.

Your business may be small, but your web presence should be enormous. Your website should look professional, so don't shy away from seeking out a graphic designer when you are building your website. A well put together website can make prospective customers feel your customer is much larger than it actually is.

If you'd like to market your online blog, make friends with the authors of the websites you admire most. No joke! Contact a blog that you love (and that hosts similar content to your own). Make a case for the quality of your blog, and offer a link-exchange. In a link-exchange, each site posts an outgoing link to a relevant entry on the other site. With this strategy, you each instantly get new, diverse visitors. A win-win!

You should insert a privacy policy on your site because it will increase the amount of users your site gets. There are many instances of web fraud so having a privacy policy available will let them know that you have a site that they can use with no worries.

Diversity can be key. You don't want your website to have banners at the top, bottom, and sides all promoting the exact same item. Find similar, relevant products to not only diversify your website, but also increase the chances that one of your readers may buy from one or more of them.

Allow your customers to give you feedback on how you are doing and what are the things you need to do to improve a product. You can use a specific email address to answer these questions, as this should be monitored throughout the day. Promise a 24 hour response time to appeal to the happiness of your client base.

Be sure that you are using meta and title tags wisely. It is a general rule that you should not repeat any more than 20% of description and meta tags on each page. Also, do not use too many characters in your title tag -- it will put the reader off.

Be sure to fire problematic customers the right way. In the age of the internet, telling a customer that he or she should go somewhere else for his goods or services can blow up in your face if your are not careful. Complaint boards and consumer blogs abound, so if you have to fire a customer, don't use insults or other negative language.

Make a video, and post it online. Humans are visual creatures, no text, graphic, or photo can compare with a video. With the numerous free video hosting sites available, the potential for increased business is huge. Whether you film a commercial, an interview with staff or a behind-the-scenes peek at your business; you are sure to reach a larger audience.

If you are marketing a product that requires some assembly or more than one step to use, include a brief video demonstration along with the product description or in an online article or newsletter. This should help to increase consumers' confidence in their ability to use the product to produce similar results.

As you can see, there are many ways you can market and grow your Internet business. With our proven and helpful tips, you will be well on your way to having the Internet website you have always wanted. What are you waiting for? Get out there and market your website.
