By Maria Powell

Religion is a good thing. It is good to believe in something. Religion is not a new thing. It has existed since time immemorial. In addition, it will not end any time soon. It will continue existing till the end of the world. Human beings are by nature religious. That is the truth. It is the reality. The major religion in the world is Christianity. The Hope Lutheran church Marble Falls is part and parcel of Christianity. This church has thousands of followers from the different walks of life. Lutheranism has a rich history.

Christianity has billions of followers. That makes it the largest religion on earth by sheer numbers. It is also the religion that has had the greatest influence in the world. The constitutions of many countries are inspired by Christianity. Also, Christian festivals are usually celebrated worldwide. The two major Christian denominations are Catholicism and Protestantism. Lutheranism is part of Protestantism.

Lutheran teachings are Biblical in every sense and respect. That is the reality. It is the truth. A true Lutheran believes in the supremacy of the Bible. There is simply no book on earth that can be compared to the Holy Bible. The Bible is divided into two major sections. They are the old and the new testaments.

Hope Lutheran Church teaches about morality. This is the most important teaching in Christianity. Moral living should not be the exception. It must be the order of the day. The life of a Christian should conform to the Ten Commandments that were handed down to Moses on Mount Sinai. These should be the compass of a true believer.

An immoral lifestyle is a sinful lifestyle. Sin came to the world through two people. These are the people who caused the fall of humanity. After they sinned, they were chased away from the beautiful Garden of Eden and they were forced to live a hard and brutal life. Sin is responsible for all the pain and suffering on the earth.

As much as sin abounds, grace also abounds. As a matter of fact, this is the age of grace. There is sufficient grace for the forgiveness of even the vilest sin. This is something that every human being on earth needs to be aware of. Every sinner in the world will be able to find grace on the cross.

Baptism will involve the full immersion into water. Baptism can take place in a river or a lake. Before anything is done, the water will first need to be blessed by a pastor. A person will enter into the water as an old creature and he will come out of it as a new creature. One will become as white as snow.

Baptism will close the sinful chapter of life and open a new chapter of righteousness. A baptized individual will need to persist in righteousness. Of course, the journey of faith will not be easy. There will be many challenges along the way. One needs to pray without ceasing so that to be able to overcome temptations. Prayer is a weapon of faith.
