PSI Electrical Exam And Its Role In Getting You Hired

By Ida Dorsey

Work is not only about skills. It requires the right set of attitude. If you are an aspiring electrician, this becomes even more important especially that you are dealing with a lot of technicalities at work. Unless you show that you both have the necessary skills and characteristics to be a part of the company that you are vying for, you will find it hard to get a slot.

Your academic performance in college can give you an idea of the level of your technical skills and competence. But for you to take a look at your personality test results, tests like PSI electrical exam is conducted. This is geared towards taking a closer looks at certain areas of your personality that will highly matter in the workplace.

An aspect that PSI delves into is your knowledge in security procedures. You will be in the field that has a lot of health hazards. And even if you are good enough to finish a job, you will never know when accidents happen. A know how on security procedures is then an asset for you.

Another one is work ethics and commitment. Companies are always on the lookout for employees who are committed to their work. No matter how skilled a worker is, if he is not committed to his work, then the likability of him quitting in between is high. This is a major turn off for employers.

Third, we have teamwork. One can finish a single task at hand alone. But since big companies deal with a lot of clients, the likability of people working together as a team is high. In fact, there is not successful companies at present who have teams of people working for its success. Employers are looking for those candidates who can be among them. Not as an individual player but as a part of a team.

Next we have passion. If you have the skills and attitude, then you are ready to go. But sometimes, you need something more to push you forward especially when tough situations happen. Passion is what pulls you up when you do not feel like moving forward. And passion is manifested on the quality of work. Workers who have the passion stay longer on a company.

Then, we have the ability to handle alcohol intake and refuse drugs. Candidate electricians have to be very keen on making sure that their health is at its best. They go on field and face constant risk. Alcohol and drugs can impair focus and straight thoughts, so those who are found out to have been using them can potentially be terminated. Or, in the case of the candidates, not accepted.

Sixth is the ability to deal with the pressures at work. The quality of work usually declines the bigger pressure one puts on another. If you do not have the proper mindset to prioritize and keep calm, then your work quality will definitely be affected. Worst case scenario, you will be fired. Companies do not want this and are looking for candidates who can tame their character well.

You have your set of personality right now. And if you think there is an area in it that needs improving, then by all means, do something. Remember, character matters.
