The Various Tips For Cantilever Racking

By Janet Jones

The cantilever storage system is common in a warehouse to store bulky and oversized items. It is common in places that store goods such as plasterboard, steel trusses, piping, and timber. The storage system has a beam anchor supporting the racks at one end. Such a design makes it different from other racking systems available. Below are few factors to consider in cantilever racking.

Acknowledge the advantages of this system. The cantilever system has a lot of advantages compared with other systems available. One can easily install and configure it based on his or her choice. It is also suitable for long poles such as plaster boards, timber and steel trusses. It can accommodate all these types of goods despite having different weights, sizes, and designs.

Make a budget. Most people tend to spend a lot due to the lack of a budget. Having a budget will help in comparing different dealers in the market and get to someone with reasonable rates. Avoid systems selling at an oddly low price since they might fail to meet your needs. Ensure that the dealer that you intend to rely on can look for cost-effective systems to reduce your expenses.

Check your warehouse layout. The layout of your warehouse and the floor space available defines racking layout to use. You can decide to set up a single rack placed against the wall or a double racking. The double racks can accommodate a lot of goods and is suitable for warehouses with limited space. However, it cannot offer enough space for crane movement.

Look for a sufficient height. You need to use the height of your warehouse to the maximum to create a lot of space. The maximum height that one can reach is forty meters. Such a height needs a stable rack with a broad base. The frames should also have the strength to hold the weight impacted on them when fully packed.

Look for an adjustable system. The ability to adjust this kind of system makes them ideal for the different type of goods. One can adjust the height and the length of the racks to accommodate the kind of goods that one intends to store. The upright frame has holes that one can fix the racks to fit the size of the product that one wants to store. You can increase the space size by increasing the heights between the racks.

Ensure that there is space for crane movement. Warehouses depend on cranes to store goods. For that reason, you should beware of the area that a standard crane can cover to leave enough space that it can fit in. You should be very clear about this aspect since it is quite hard to adjust when you have already installed the racks and goods as well.

Look for a reliable installation firm. You cannot achieve your expectations unless you depend on a suitable installation firm. Look for a company that has established itself as a reliable service provider and has enough workforce as well. A good company should provide portfolios and references that one can use to determine their potential.
