People have been viewed to be social beings different from primates and other animals able to, create different skills and learn them. Skills learnt by one generation is passed to the next. In terms of technicality, art may positive or negative and our main focus shall be on the positive side.

The trainees are taught teamwork spirit. Through this spirit for example kids are able to perform well at schools as well as home, for the adults the skill is an added advantage for them in their places of work where working and interacting with others is made easier.

Upon learning these techniques, a person also benefits from increased focus which is accompanied by improved attention. For the sake of students and scorers, this is an additional advantage in their studies especially to those with short attention span. Learning fighting techniques puts the trainee at a better position in their places of study.

Being secure and safe is what everyone wants to feel. However this might not be the case always therefore the rises a need for learning self-defense. Possessing the skill of defense builds up ones self-esteem and one is more comfortable walking down the street even at odd hours of the night. Self-confidence is also an added advantage, one is confident enough that if faced by a certain for of danger that needs defense he/she is able to get out of such a problem.

Socialization skills are also developed with continued learning of a given discipline. It is empowered while training and during competitions whereby one has an opportunity to meet and make friends. As such we can credit these opportunities to the art involved. Respect acquired during training enables the person involved to be able to interact with people of all caliber.

Need for money is inevitable by any person. Persons who have gained fighting skills stand a chance of earning from them in various ways such as winning in competitions where winners are awarded. A person can also start a gym and train others at a price. Event organizers at times invite martial artists to perform in their events as curtain raisers or part of entertainment.

A healthy life means a healthy body. Body fitness is very important for the prevention of some of the diseases, exercise is one of the way out of such diseases like obesity. In learning the skill physical exercise is very intense which results to a fit and healthy body. Fitness allows one to work efficiently especially in areas that involve field works or physical exercise.

Like any other skill without discipline it can be misused or used for other reasons other than the intended one. Issues like anger management and critical thinking that are associated discipline are taught during training. Such a person has a general advantage since for starters a society wants disciplined people. He/she also gets respect from other members of the society.
