Maintaining It Without Calling The Swimming Pool Cleaning Service

By Patty Goff

Pools can cause a variety of health problems when they are left dirty and not well maintained. This is why people who can afford them build one in their yard rather than go to public ones. Often, unkempt pools hoard a lot of disgusting things besides the scary bacteria.

Your backyard oasis needs a lot of tender love and care if you want it to be perfect for the summer or your weekend barbeque party. While some will prefer to call a swimming pool cleaning service in Philadelphia, you can actually do the maintenance yourself. Just like getting to mow the lawn regularly for that immaculate green grass, you will have to do the following things to keep your man made lake pristine.

Overall chemistry should be scrutinized two or three times per week when it is summertime. During winter, you can just check once, because even though you would not be swimming at such climate, cold temperatures are gentle to your natatorium. Make sure the skimmer baskets are pristine.

Checking your water levels as needed is crucial. The center of the tile or the skimmer is your basis. Sanitize the hair and lint pot in the pump every two weeks. Make sure the pump is turned off while doing this.

Take note of the deck chlor and inline chlorinator once per week. Inspect the flow meter and adjust according to readings. Make sure that the tablets are in your deck chlor and inline unit. Too little will promote algae growth, and you probably would not want to see those things.

Your filters are scheduled to be cleaned like visits to the dentist, which is a minimum of twice yearly. But if you find that your returns are low, the floor cleaning system is going crazy, there was a storm or heavy rain, or the water is just so bad in terms of clarity, go ahead and give them proper hygiene. Soak them in muriatic acid or trisodium phosphate. Wear protective clothing such as gloves and add acid into the water, not in the reverse order. Rinse until they are spotless, and dry them well.

To prevent ugly, dirty stuff building up into your precious tiles, scrub them once in a while. Saltwater chlorine generators would also need their blades to be taken care of. When poor readings and red flow lights occur, they might have started to calcify.

Having an ozone system is handy when you no longer need to shock your natatorium regularly. Otherwise, shock at night with a nonchlorine based shock. You can also run the pump for a whole day, providing a twenty four hour circulation, your pool will be super fine.

Water migration should be shunned. Check for cracks, especially in the tiles and on the deck. Silicon in the form of clear beads can be useful in caulking cracks. Muriatic acid can also be utilized to control the ph level, which must be from 7.2 to 7.8 in measure. Alkaline should be between eighty to one hundred twenty ppm, and cyanuric acid should be between thirty to fifty ppm. Calcium hardness can be from two hundred fifty to four hundred fifty ppm, and at least one ppm of chlorine residue. There should be zero, as in nothing, of combined chlorine. If you have attained those chemical ranges, then it means your swimming pool is now perfect for use.
