Treatment & Care For Your Pond Or Lake

By Roland Stockwell

There are many reasons why people like having a pond or lake on their property. From an ascetic perspective, it's a beautiful water feature. Some people stock their pond and enjoy fishing in the pond. Still others also use it to feed the livestock that roam around the property. For whatever reasons you have a pond, keeping the water clean and healthy is a top priority.

When thinking about pond water treatment, it is important to get a general idea about the approximate number of gallons of water inside your water feature. To do this, multiply the length, width and depth by 7.5 and you will have a general idea of how many gallons there are in your pond.

There is one way to keep this water well maintained and this is by using a product called AquaSpherePRO. This is a natural and effective product formed as a biodegradable ball filled with a mixture of bacteria that eats the excess amounts of solid matter and other organic matter in a pond or small lake.

The procedure is just to toss the biodegradable balls, enough of these to approximate the volume of water in the pond, and the biodegradable AquaSpherePRO will begin to work, keeping the water fresh and well balanced. There is no over dosage or over treatment with the product, and if you tossed more than needed, the ponds water condition will not be affected. This is also a product that is veterinarian approved, thus safe for people, pets and wildlife, including any fish that you stock in the water.

When it comes to stocking a pond with fish, there are many different options and you need to select a species that works well for your specific pond conditions and this includes depth and general temperatures of the water throughout the year. Different species require different conditions and some cannot survive in extremely cold temperatures or very hot temperatures.

All aspects of the fish species in your pond have to be learned and this includes pond fertilization, liming, and likewise harvesting, and all these should be learned since the fish needs to be fed and feed waste can be toxic. Caring for the different fish species should be learned and one way to know this is to talk to an expert about the best fish for your pond and your climate.
