Polished Concrete Has Grown In Popularity

By Troy Wilkerson

Polished concrete is now used both inside and outside by an increasing number of homeowners. Inside the home, it can be installed as a floor that looks like imported marble. In addition to flooring, it can form countertops in the kitchen or bathroom.

In addition to homeowners, many businesses are selecting this material as an inexpensive alternative to imported marble. Customers enjoy walking into a showroom or shop that is clean and attractive. The pleasant surroundings are an added incentive to make a purchase in such a store. This is a material that is both attractive and easy to maintain in pristine condition.

Imported marble is a remarkable material. The lower cost material that simulates imported marble gives the same beautiful shine without damage to your budget. Besides being being as remarkably shiny, it offers the same kind of durability. Therefore, the affordable price is not the only feature drawing more homeowners to choose it.

The ease of maintenance and ability to resist scuff marks or tire prints is not the only feature that makes this material popular. With over seven billion people living on the planet, protecting the environment is of major concern. The lack of Volatile Organic Compounds and the fact that installing it creates no hazardous waste are equally important.

It could be used as flooring in an automobile showroom for that reason. The elite appearance it provides is easy to maintain. It also suits the homeowner with children rushing in and out all day. A parent will find it can be cleaned easily with a wet mop.

When used for flooring, the process is be done in one of two ways. Wet polishing involves a grinding process and water must be available in conjunction with the grinder. This method of providing polished concrete is a very messy procedure. Dry polishing, on the other hand, is cleaner. It utilizes a HEPA filter vacuum system to avoid adding airborne particles to the environment making it the preferred process among homeowners.
