However, you can compromise by getting one of the remanufactured Continental aircraft engine parts. When you think of going out and buy one, you need to keep the keep the following things in mind.

The process of remanufacturing engines is similar to rebuilding them. However, with the former, any defective parts are replaced with new or serviced parts. The system is also thoroughly tested against the standards set by the original manufacturer. However, with the rebuilt versions you cannot be assured of quality and longevity of the engine.

Logically, before you start looking for a part like this, you need to see if they are available for the make of your plane. Big companies will offer you the most variety, and this is where you should first check. With vintage or one of a kind aircraft models, you might have a hard time locating these services, but do not give up before you have exhausted all the garages and repairs shops.

When you do find the right engine model, you need to do some background checks on the people selling them. You can visit the shop in person to see how they work, but you will also find that browsing online will also give you a lot of information. The shop should be registered, and the technicians who are handling the remanufacturing and installation, should all be well trained.

A good engine will never come cheap, but there is also a price past which it should not exceed. You can determine this price by comparing the rates different vendors are offering. You also need to keep in mind that the purchase price will not be comprehensive of the transportation costs and installation. Avoid buying from the person with the lowest rates, because this may also reflect the quality of the products.

Even while looking for the best machine, you need to consider the logistics of transportation. This will not be a problem unless the manufacturer is located in a distant town or state. If this is the case, you can inquire to see whether they have nearby agents who will make work easier for you. If the engine needs to be delivered to you, ensure you know in advance who will pay for this service.

A similarity these engines have with new ones is that they come with a warranty. This is usually about three or four years, and it covers the parts as well as the labor. Ensure you learn the details of this agreement and read the details before you sign it.

Unless you know a lot about airplanes, do not try to handle the installation yourself. Tinkering with the wrong things might damage the system, and this will be another problem in itself. You should let your regular mechanic or the manufacturer handle this. They should also test that it is compatible with the machine before you leave the shop.
