Emphasizing A Father's Influence
Understanding the Importance of Fathers
The modern father is often overwhelmed by stressful work and the task of earning money to meet his family's needs, but, nevertheless, their influence on their children's lives should never be underestimated. A father greatly influences the physical and mental growth of his children by becoming an example of proper behavior. By observing him children learn how to interact with others. Father's represent what it means to be a caring, responsible, and positive person.
When raising sons, fathers can show them proper ways to embrace their manhood like being well-mannered and being aware of the needs of others-not harassing them or being inconsiderate. When raising daughters, they can show them how to have meaningful relationships with men.
If a father is absent, either as a result of a premature death or divorce, single mothers should find other male role models, like uncles or grandfathers, or other relatives, to help positively influence their kids. In the absence of this, many mentoring programs provide children with male roles models. These can also be very effective role models.
Dr Andrews, as requested by Lon, outlined a few points fathers need to consider in order to have a positive impact on their children:
--Fathers should be actively involved and maintain meaningful relationships with their kids.
--Fathers should work in harmony with mothers or any other adult caretaker in the home using positive and consistent communication.
--Fathers should maintain proper order within their home.
--Fathers should enforce restrictions, if necessary, for guarding their children's well-being and maturing.
--Fathers should be involved in the life of their children, including participating in sports activities, academics, reading aloud, and art projects. It is these kinds' interactions that build a solid relationship with their children.
Obviously, fathers who take part in their children lives are major influential figures. As a matter of fact, a father's influence is often acknowledged when their children have become adults and begins to raise their own children.
