Establishing Yourself As A Renowned Bellevue Florist

By Eric Martin

Most people get delighted when they are handed a bouquet of flowers. It might be the vibrant colors, the amazing scents, or even how fragile these blooms look. However, not everyone can arrange a stunning bouquet and for this, you need a Bellevue florist. There are certain traits that make one person better than another at doing this.

You need to have an understanding of vegetation, and specifically flowers, if you plan to dabble in this business. This way, you will not end up cutting the flowers the wrong way or forgetting to water, or feed them. However, you also need some training. This can be acquired by learning from another florist, online or taking classes.

After you prepare the plants, you have to arrange them and pack them for the client. Sometimes, the client will already have what they want in mind, but if the order is open you have to creatively come up with a bouquet, which will reflect what the customer wanted. Sometimes, if you put some varieties together, the result may be overwhelming especially if the clash. Playing around with different arrangements when you are free, will help you hone your skills.

Although you will be surrounded by plants almost all day, you also need to understand people. This way you will not only be able to sell your items, but also to tell what a particular person needs. Most people only know the common flowers, and therefore, it is up to you to make them an arrangement that matches their mood, or suits the occasion.

A large number of people walk into a flower shop, because they suddenly remembered a birthday, or an anniversary. In order to cater for your regular clients as well as the passersby, you need to be properly located. This way getting to your shop will be easy for them. You also need to me up with a good marketing strategy. This can be done simply posting daily photos on social media.

Pricing can be very tricky when you are dealing with these items. Due to the short shelf life of flowers, you cannot set your prices too high because you might end up making huge losses. On the other hand, low prices will also affect your cash flow, and may mean that you will work with lower quality stems.

This business has high and low seasons. In order to keep your shop open, you should consider diversifying what you sell. You can include little knickknacks like vases, cards, and other decorative features. This way even if a customer walks in and decides not to pick a bloom they can still leave with something else.

In order for any business to take off and succeed, you have to make sure you do your homework before you begin. This way, you will know things like which flowers to stock, how many employees you will need eventually. This will also allow you to be prepared for the ups and downs of the flower industry.
