Tesla's Model X - What Is In The Store For The Customer?

By Adam Hampworth

Model X is the crossover vehicle from the Tesla Motors who manufacture electric cars. Tesla had earlier announced that the mass production of Model X would begin late 2013 but at the beginning of March, 2013 though a press release, the company has informed about the postponement of the production to 2014. There were no specific reasons mentioned by Tesla for this postponement but the market watchers have learned that Tesla has picked up few lessons from their Model S and wish to implement them in Model X.

The benefits offered by an electric car can be categorized into three types i.e. (A) Technological; (B) Environmental and (C) Monitory benefits. Electric cars are energy efficient as they can convert the energy supplied through them. That is more than 60% of the electricity supplied through the grid would efficiently power the wheels. Whereas the gasoline based vehicles are capable of converting less than 20% of the fuel supplied through them. Electric cars the most quiet while operating and smooth in their functioning. They also have powerful acceleration capabilities.

EVs are relatively bulkier and heavier than their gasoline counterparts. This is because of their battery packs. Their weight would be 10% or more heavy than the conventional vehicles. Undoubtedly all EVs and particularly the electric cars are expensive than the gasoline run vehicles. This is due to the batteries made up with lithium ion which are costly to manufacture than the gasoline powered cars.

This electric SUV comes with the no-tailpipe and zero emission features that are standard with any tesla car models. The unique Tesla touch-screen dashboard would look more futuristic than Model S dashboard. It would be carrying all the best features and might offer little more.

Global warming has become the nightmare and the sustenance of not only humans but the entire flora and fauna would face tough challenges if it continues. As the adage goes 'prevention is better than cure', EVs are one of those protectors of environment like wind or solar energy systems. One EV purchased can curtail not less than 9 tons of CO2. This is something that cannot be underestimated by anyone.
