How To Get Barbeque Catering Done Right

By Danielle Galloway

During the summer barbeque catering is usually something you can smell in the air. But although many people know exactly how to go about cooking on the grill, some are clueless. Therefore, one of the most important thing to do is decide if you want to do the thing yourself, or if you would prefer an outside caterer to come in and cook all you food.

One thing that could sway whether you go down the do it yourself route or the caterer route is how many people are going to be present at the gathering. If it will number in the hundreds then it may be better on your heart and your psyche to bring people in to cater the food. If there's going to be a few people then perhaps that's the time to go it alone. Of course, it's a good idea to consider the event too. Wedding and special events might need special catering by experts.

Those opting for the outside catering route should consider looking into using their favored restaurant for the food preparation. The advantages are obvious, but make sure you understand the exact types of meat they can prepare and think about whether your guests will like it.

Outside caterers provide a fair degree of flexibility when it comes to the level of service they provide. Consider that the better ones will often be able to do everything for you, including cleaning up after they have cooked and served the food. This is probably ideal if you have a large gathering of people and aren't the type to want to spend all afternoon behind a grill.

Money does play a part in deciding what to do, there's little doubt about that. Some places charge only $6 or so a head, and this usually will include a meat and two side dishes. The upper end of the budget might be $30 a head and this will normally come with all the trimmings like dessert, vegetables, various meats and various sides.

If doing the cooking yourself it's vital to use decent equipment. The grill and smoker you choose does have an effect on the way the food turns out. Most people will use standard outdoor equipment as well as a smoker box, which gives food that smoky flavor.

Before using the grill, make sure it's seasoned properly. Put cooking oil on a paper towel and rub it into the grill. Meat will not stick to the grill and it'll help maintain the equipment. One thing you should do is choose good quality meat. Pork should be lean with light pink flesh and ribs and shoulder cuts are usually the best part.

Whether you decide to go down the do it yourself road or have outside people come in, barbeque catering can be fun and tasty. Bear in mind how many people are going to be eating and what the occasion is and plan accordingly.
